Craig's Biography

Who am I?

I am an artist, professional, husband and father.

I studied photography in 2003 at the Defense Information School in Fort George G. Meade, Maryland and returned to study photojournalism in 2004.  As a U.S. Navy Photographer, I was stationed on the nuclear-powered aircraft carrier USS Harry S. Truman.  I photographed events and day-to-day operations of the Navy both in port and at sea, preferring the speed and excitement of aircraft flight operations.  We operated in the Atlantic, Mediterranean Sea, Persian Gulf and the U.S. Gulf Coast for relief efforts just days after Hurricane Katrina hit there.  I earned a Joint Services Achievement Medal for my work in photographing and managing a team of photographers during hurricane relief efforts in September 2005.  The U.S. Navy’s official website features 120 of my images and many others can be found in various military magazines and websites.

I was, at first, reluctant to photograph weddings after several friends had asked.  "I’m a military photographer.  I don’t do weddings,” was my response.  However, their persistence paid off and I ended up falling in love with capturing the once in a lifetime moments found only on that very special day.

I left the glory of military photography behind, refining my style and bringing my passion, talent and photojournalism experience to one of the most exciting, dynamic and emotional experiences: The Wedding Day. I find great joy in creating art that is beautiful and memorable and I look forward to sharing this joy with you.

I currently reside in northern Virginia with my family and photograph weddings in Virginia, Maryland, West Virginia, Washington D.C. and occasionally beyond.
